The Introduction to Avalanche Safety (CSA 1) course will provide a framework for decision making in entry-level avalanche terrain that is based on the most current knowledge available.  It was developed to meet the needs of people with minimal training and little experience.  In addition, this course introduces the prerequisites for future avalanche training and presents the advanced avalanche safety course ( CSA 2) as the logical next step to obtain intermediate level decision-making skills.
